A Warm Church!

Heating News

The new boiler has now been installed and by the time you read this you may well be feeling it’s benefits. The replacement of the original boiler which was destroyed by the cellar flooding last winter has not been straightforward. On the advice of the Diocesan Heating Advisor and our insurance company the new boiler has been installed in the rear vestry corridor where it cannot be affected by any future flooding. This has caused extra expense as a large redundant safe had to be removed and the area redecorated. This was in addition to the extra costs incurred by extending the pipework, and also repairing previously unidentified leaks in the old system.

The PCC are extremely grateful to Joan and John Downing and the John and Hilda Downing Memorial Fund for the financial support received which has enabled these extra costs to be met. John and Hilda Downing were members of this church for many years and were committed bell ringers. John was tower captain for over 60 years having succeeded his uncle in 1930.

Work in progress. Ask to have a look now it’s finished. Amazing.
