Our Church Warden, Jean Wilson, who has been going to the Baird Primary Academy once a week since September 2011 to support the Christian Schools Worker, has written a short article about their work for us.

“Lucy runs the JAFFA club at Elphinstone School. JAFFA means ‘Jesus A Friend For All’ and the aim of the club is to teach children about the Christian way of life. Many of the children would not normally attend church so this is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to children we normally don’t meet. I find it a privilege to work with such a dedicated young Christian as Lucy who manages to make each session so interesting and riveting for the children.

Lucy and her colleague Darren work at many local schools holding JAFFA clubs and leading school assemblies and are finding themselves more and more in demand as schools become aware of their unique gifts. Funding is always a problem and sadly the future for Christian Schools Workers is uncertain. Donations are always welcome and there is a facility where people who would like to make a long term commitment to support the work can make monthly donations.

We were delighted to have Lucy and Darren leading our All Age Service on June 17th 2012 at Blacklands Church. The children especially were welcomed and had lots of fun activities.”
