Meetings in the 2016-2017 season included:


26th September: AGM followed by short quiz

17th October: “An insight into Ecclesiastical Tat” , Rev’d. Charlie Hill

21st November: “Loose Ends-Untied”, Musical Entertainment followed by refreshments

19th December: Christmas quiz with fish and chip supper.

16th January : “Hastings Past”, Ion Castro

20th February: “The Way, Camino Di Santiago”,   Tony Collins and Mike Cooper

20th March: “2 Men-2 Boats”,  Tush Hamilton and Dee Day White

24th April: “Mr Kipling, without the cakes”, a talk by Sue Bobbins

15th May: “The Sussex Posy”, Talk with demonstration by Bernard Cruttenden

19th June: Pets As Therapy, an illustrated talk and demonstration of work by PAT dog Barney Spaniel, assisted by David Jones

18th July: Group Summer Outing to Cranbrook

19th October: “Snowflake Night Shelter”, Andrew Crichton and John Read, Snowflake Trustees

16th November: “Weather recording in Hastings”, David Powell, Borough Meteorologist

21st December: “Christmas Entertainment”, “Loose Ends Untied”

18th January: “Hastings Curiosities and Haunted Hastings”, Sam Langley

15th February: “Life among the Bluecoats, The Royal Navy Temperance Society”, Jane Nunn

21st March: “It’s Good to Walk”, Paul Lendon had to cancel and Sam Langley kindly stepped in.

18th April: “Mediaeval Days”, Heather Goodsell

16th May: Fish Barbeque, Tush and Pat Hamilton

20th June: “Bat Rescue”, Karen Hammond

27th July: an outing to Sissinghurst with lunch at Hawkhurst Fish Farm

September 15th AGM followed by fun quiz, bring along a photo of yourself as a baby!

October 20th “Life among the Bluecoats”,  Jane Nunn

November 17th  “Curiosities of Hastings”, Sam Langley

December 15th Christmas entertainment with “Loose Ends Untied”, `followed by seasonal refreshments

January 19th “East Sussex Wild Life Rescue Service”,  Trevor Weeks

February 16th “Tales from the Stade”,  Tush and Pat Hamilton

March 16th “Hastings Pier: History and Renovation”, Hastings Pier Trust.

April 20th “Jack in the Green”,  Keith Leech.

May 18th Talk on her 200 mile horse ride by Heather Goodsell.

June 15th (7 p.m.) Fish BBQ, Tush and Pat Hamilton.

July 20th “Gardening the Sissinghurst Way”, possibly followed by a visit later in the month, with Lunch, Afternoon Tea or Dinner, using members’ cars, but only if enough enthusiasm and support.

November 18th Talk on Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance

December 16th Lantern slide “Victorian Christmas” entertainment with Peter Gilles

January 20th “Maritime curiosities”, talk by Jane Nunn

February 8th Extra Event: Lunch and “Horse Racing Afternoon” 12:30 p.m.

February 17th Musical entertainment

March 17th “Hastings Memories”, talk etc. by Sam Langley

April 28th “On the Buses”, experiences of Paul Lendon

May 19th Fish BBQ with Tush and Pat Hamilton

June 16th Talk on “The History of the Gramophone”

July 22nd Dinner at The Moorings using members private transport.
