Pentecost: What does it really mean?
God has revealed himself to us in three ‘Persons’: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Pentecost emphasizes God the Holy Spirit. You can read about the events on the first Pentecost in the Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2 when the power of God the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples of Jesus. Their lives were transformed.
This year we celebrated Pentecost on Sunday May 19th The Holy Spirit is a promise given to all Christians. Pentecost is also referred to as the birthday of the Church. Read Acts Chapter 2 and verses 42 to 47 and you will see the effect the Holy Spirit had in the lives of the early Christians and the new-born church. They were thrilled to belong to the church, keen to pray, bold to speak, hungry to learn, willing to give and longing to share their lives in a vibrant Christian fellowship. The Holy Spirit is a promise given to all Christians
God the Holy Spirit is the key to church growth. What happened in the church of the first century can happen in the twenty-first!
