Sunday morning theme for May 2012:

‘ONE LIFE’: that’s all we get and most of us are asking the same question, ‘What is it all about ?’ On May 6th 13th and 20th we will  continue our teaching series from St Mark’s Gospel, as together we seek to discover some  answers to  a very big question.

A thank you:

At the Parochial Church Council A.G.M., Leslie Adams was presented with a bottle of his favourite tipple as a “Thank You” for all his dedicated service to Christchurch, Blacklands and St. Andrew as Church Warden.

And another for help with the Easter Celebrations:

I would just like to say a big thank you to the many folk who made the Easter services so memorable. Thank you John for leading us in all four services and making them so thought provoking and special. Thank you also, to Linda Burrows, Amelia, Paul, Jan, Pat, June, Margaret, Andrea, Ivora and Vee who came in on Saturday and decorated the church so beautifully and finally thank you to Linda Walker for the wonderful cakes and Easter Eggs we all enjoyed after the Sunday service.

And for the Easter Flowers:

Thank you everyone who donated to the Lily Fund and who came along with flowers and foliage to help decorate the Church and make it look so beautiful for Easter. Your help was much appreciated. June Sears

News of Eileen French:

Cynthia and I visited Eileen French on Sunday the 22nd April, at Healy House, spending nearly an hour with her. She was delighted to see us and was in good form! Despite her difficulties following a heart attack and stroke, she was in full command of her faculties and, typically Eileen, was not lost for words. She wanted to know all that was going on at Blacklands and with her various friends there. She is unable to go out much now, but does go into the lounge for the morning and goes to her room for a rest after lunch. She used to go to St John’s Church in Pevensey Road but couldn’t get there now, although it is only a short distance. She was particularly pleased to have visits from Margaret Turner, who gives her Holy Communion. She said that Margaret always gives a little service, which makes it personal, and that she always feels happier and relaxed after.

She wished to be remembered to all her friends at Blacklands and when we left, we felt that she had made our day as we hoped we might have made hers. If anyone wanted to visit her, they would be very welcome and would help her to catch up on any news.

Cynthia & Michael.
