"WAKEY-WAKEY !"

Do you remember Billy Cotton's call-sign heralding his  Sunday lunchtime radio show in the 1950's? It could nowadays precede BBC Sussex "Sunday Breakfast Show", a 3-hour “religious” interest programme aired from 6 a.m., each week. Much of the content relates to church and community matters in Sussex and Surrey, and is ably presented by Emily Jeffery, before she uses her musical talents at morning service in her own church. One good reason to listen, therefore, is that the show always contains a varied selection of hymns and songs. There is usually a theme each week, and the first two Sundays in July featured 'Church Giving' and 'Cost of upkeep of special (listed) Churches', both being topical concerns for us at Blacklands. Recently the station has introduced a continuous half-hour of well-known hymns from 5.30 am (to make up for the withdrawal of 8.30 p.m., Sunday Half-hour earlier this year?)

"It's What We Want to Know....."

About each other?

About our neighbouring parishes?

About our town churches?

About other local activities?

About church life in Sussex?

About 'what's on' in wider world?

it's all about our vision NOW

Don Valentine.
