From Hastings Foodbank.

Hi Everyone,

With your help, as of close of business yesterday (Webmaster note: date unknown, but before 23rd January) the Hastings Foodbank has now fed 987 people (658 adults and 329 children) since we launched in April. We fed 200 people in December alone (112 adults and 88 children).

On the Friday before Christmas we provided food parcels for a massive 66 people in the two hours we were open to the public, packing over 500kg of food in the process.

Our current shortages are: fruit juice, mashed potato, long life milk, sugar and jam.

Many thanks for you continued support for the foodbank, together we are making a real difference to local people (neighbours) in all sorts of difficult circumstances.

Pete Houlton

Foodbank Administrator

Parish Group

We were very sorry that the January meeting had to be cancelled at short notice which was due to our speaker being unwell and also the inclement weather. Committee members endeavoured to contact as many members as possible but if you did not receive the message and struggled to the church hall only to find it locked up we can only apologise.

The next meeting is on Monday February 18th when according to the programme we were due to be entertained with a return visit of the Black Briar Folk Group. Unfortunately this group has also suffered with illness and have had to cancel their visit. We have however been able to find another small group of musicians who will come along and play and sing for us. As with the previous entertainment evenings we will have a bring and share buffet afterwards. If you the members would like to bring along some savoury items of food the committee will provide some deserts and soft drinks as well as the usual tea and coffee.

Paul Cabban.

Finding your way round the Bible

There will be a Bible study group held every four weeks led by a member of the congregation of St Peter and St Pauls Church. It will start on February 12th lasting from approximately 7.30 to 9.00pm. Please see Jean if you want to attend.

Word for today – Bible readings

The new ‘Word for Today’ Bible readings February are available free at the back of the church as well as ‘Prayer for Today’ and ‘Word 4 U Today’ (for younger people). Please take a copy and remember, if you follow the Bible reading plan in ‘Word for Today’ for a year you will have read the whole Bible!
