Host UK Charity Appeal

HOST is a charity which encourages international friendship and understanding by arranging for adult international students to spend a short time in a British home.

We are always grateful to welcome new hosts on board so they may meet interesting new people and exchange culture and customs. Please could we ask you once again to consider including one of the two items below in your magazine or notice sheet for either October or November? Additionally, if you have a website where you could post a link to www.hostuk.org, we would greatly appreciate it.Thank you very much and best wishes.

At home this Christmas? Many UK based international students will be alone and would love to celebrate with you. Inviting a student to stay will make them feel welcome here. Learn about other cultures, meet new people and make the world a little friendlier!

London 2012 brought talented people to Britain. But did you know this happens every year? Thousands of bright young men and women come to study at our universities. Sadly, most have no contact with British people outside the campus. Some miss their families; many are curious about the real life of Britain. That’s why HOST arranges for them to spend a day, weekend or 3 days at Christmas as guests in hospitable homes. This is a great opportunity to get to know someone from another country, and help them to feel welcome. As a volunteer host, you could enjoy introducing a student of your choice to your way of life and perhaps to their very first Christmas.
