Parish Group News

The AGM of the Parish Group was held on September 17th and all of the committee were re-elected, with the exception of Hazel Jack who wished to stand down. Paul Cabban (chairman) reported another very successful year and thanked all the committee for their hard work and the members for their support. Membership currently stands at 47 with the average attendance at meetings being 36. Financially the Group is in a healthy state and subscriptions have been maintained at their previous level.

Following the formal part of the meeting Michael Chaloner introduced a “special guest speaker” in the guise of Paul Cabban. Paul entered wearing the Olympic Torchbearers outfit and carrying the Olympic torch. Paul then spoke about the whole process of being selected and taking part in this unique event and members had the opportunity to hold the torch themselves.

A full programme for meetings has been arranged for 2012/13 and membership cards will be issued when annual subscriptions, which are now due, are paid.

The first meeting of the new session is on Monday October 15th when the speaker will be from Canine Carers, a charity which trains dogs to alert their owners to certain events such as the doorbell or telephone ringing or even to warn them of imminent medical problems.
