Parochial Church Council News

The latest meeting report from the PCC, held on 3rd September,  is here.

Sunday Teaching Themes

Most of us often feel powerless to change anything. Even our finest efforts appear to make no difference! Some of our teaching themes on Sunday morning will continue to explore the book of ‘Judges’, a little known book of the Old Testament.  The characters we encounter there  are a challenge to shake off the shackles of pessimism and fear, in order to begin living as people who can make a difference.

Decorating for Harvest

The church will be open on Saturday 13th October from 9:30 am to decorate for Harvest. If anyone needs to get in at another time please let me know. Debbie Dann.

Flower Rota

A new flower rota is up at the back of the church. Please put your name down on the list if you can make a display for the church.

“The Lead Has Gone from the Roof”

How many times has that been said at Blacklands over the years? Many times and nobody saw a thing.

What is the price of scrap lead per kilo? Scrap lead prices in the UK are currently €0.85 per kilo. The prices are usually between €0.80 to €1.40 per kg.

Due to a large number of scrap metal thefts, tougher laws will be enacted to stop these thefts. The estimated cost of metal theft in the UK has been reported to be more than £750 million, and maybe even more. Police have said that metal theft is a new acquisitive crime.

Meanwhile Blacklands get wet and has to find money in its ever depleting coffers to get the roof repaired.

Who are these people who come undetected and remove the lead?

Tea N’ Chat

We will meet on Monday 1st,15th and 29th of October for cups of tea and lots of chat from 2.00 pm.

Please try and support this friendly group or at least come and give us a try.
